Unusual clinicoradiological presentation of paraesophageal hernias: A case series
Type IV hiatus hernias; A Case Series
Abstract
Type IV hiatus hernias; also called paraesophageal hernias are extremely rare. These are characterized by the herniation of the stomach, along with other abdominal organs like the colon, small intestine, and pancreas into the chest through a large esophageal hiatus. They can lead to a wide range of clinical presentations, including gastrointestinal complications, respiratory distress, and even life-threatening situations like gastric volvulus. We report three cases of hiatus hernia with unusual clinico-radiological presentation.
