Outcome of various regimes of maintenance therapy of lupus Nephritis. An observational study
Abstract
Aim: To study the outcome of lupus nephritis with various maintenance regimes.
Materials and Methods: An observational study, where lupus nephritis patients were followed quarterly, over a period of 2 years on maintenance therapy. Primary endpoint of complete response and secondary end point of partial response were compared in different treatment arms and subjected to the statistical analysis.
Results: More than 50% (26) patients achieved the primary end point of complete response and over 28% (15) achieved secondary end point of partial response. CR was seen in 40% of patients on MMF, 75% of patients on azathioprine arm and 42.5% of patients in CYC arm.
Clinical significance: Outcome was slightly better in patients receiving azathioprine, however the difference didn’t reach statistical significance.
